The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced the accreditation of examination centres for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). A total of 848 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres are scheduled for assessment in the nationwide exercise, which began on Monday, December 15, 2025.
The development was disclosed in JAMB’s Weekly Bulletin released on Monday by the Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, during a virtual meeting with key stakeholders. Participants at the meeting included Chief External Examiners (CEEs), Chief Technical Advisors (CTAs), Zonal Directors, State Coordinators, representatives of the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria (CPAN), as well as ZITOs, SITOs, PITOs, and other stakeholders involved in the conduct of the UTME.
Professor Oloyede urged members of the accreditation teams to approach the assignment with focus, diligence and thoroughness, stressing the far-reaching implications of their decisions. He described the exercise as a national duty and cautioned against approving any centre that does not fully meet the Board’s prescribed standards.
The Board’s IT Consultant, Mr Damilola Bamiro, explained that the exercise is restricted to centres that have successfully completed the mandatory automated system readiness test, noting that only centres that passed the test would qualify for physical inspection.
He added that accreditation teams would pay special attention to the coverage and configuration of CCTV systems, which must be hard-wired, use the HIKVision brand with the recommended 16 channels, and have all network switches connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).
Professor Oloyede further advised accreditation team members to remain security conscious, avoid unnecessary risks, and limit movements or actions that could expose them to danger, while assuring them that adequate security arrangements had been put in place to ensure a smooth and safe accreditation exercise.
