The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) has disclosed that
about 24,148 candidates have gained admission into various higher
institutions in Nigeria as at August 29, 2018 for the 2018/2019 academic
session.
This was made known by JAMB Head of Media, Fabian Benjamin during a telephone chat with newsmen on Wednesday.
The JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, on the other hand has frowned at
agitations for the reduction of JAMB Registration fees. According to
him, the fee collected by JAMB is one of the lowest in the world. “Why
are they not asking WAEC (to reduce fee)? Why are they not asking NECO?
Why are they not asking NABTEB? Why JAMB? He asked rhetorically.
He said the exam body would only follow a directive from the appropriate quarters on the cost of
UTME.
“If the government feels we should adjust, we will adjust and not as a
result of unqualified, baseless requests,” Mr Oloyede said. Myschool
