Admission into higher institution in Nigeria has been an
unending issues as students await UTME year after year hoping the next UTME
might be the possible solution to their admission related issue, however,
national estimation has shown that UTME is not the best alternative for
securing admission stating that only 20% of the annual UTME candidates end up
securing admission successfully with the Post UTME as Post UTME has been proved
to be another barrier to securing admission into university, this simply means
yearly, only 320,000 out of every 1, 600, 000 JAMB (UTME) aspirants gain
admission successfully, however it has been proved that IJMB is best
alternative.
IJMB is an approved 9 month programme by Federal Government
as a platform for securing university admission into university in Nigeria and
abroad, IJMB is moderated by Ahmadu Bello University ABU Zaria with serious
Study Centres Nationwide. IJMB has been designed to serve as an alternative to
university admission, as it requires is your 0` level result be it Waec, Neco,
Nabteb etc (5 credits one sitting, and 6 credit two sittings).
Statistics has proven that annually, 20,000 applicants put in
for the programme and over 150,000 candidates secure admission with it into 200
level to their preferred university & course giving of a success story of
over 75% of the applicants as compared to JAMB which close to 1.6 million
applicants sit for and just 20% fraction get admitted.
Interested IJMB Candidate are expected to select any THREE
(3) A/L SUBJECTS (English Compulsory) related to their course of study in the
university. Candidates would then be lectured on these subjects for a period of
9 month and then write the final examination. On completion of the programme,
Candidates therefore use their IJMB result to secure admission into 200 Level in
any Nigeria university via Direct Entry. Interested Candidate can confirm from
JAMB brochure to see IJMB as a direct entry requirement into 200 Level.
IJMB is presently accepted in 80% of Nigerian Universities,
see the table below, it has been estimated that 80% of IJMB applicants scores
over 6 points annually and 70% uses it as their gateway into 200 Level. Only a
dull student will not make 6 points out total of 15 point criteria for crossing
the hurdle into 200 Level.
NB: KINDLY CHECK JAMB BROCHURE TO VERIFY/CONFIRM IJMB ACCEPTABILITY IN YOUR SCHOOL OF CHOICE (IN-CASE IT IS NOT STATED ABOVE).
