National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu
Former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the ruling All
Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu, has affirmed that
current strategic measures being taken by the present administration
would vitiate against the pangs of projected economic recession in the
country.
For effect, Tinubu said the focus at this period should not be on
inflation, but rather on initiatives that could create jobs and enhance
the quality of living for he people.
He spoke just as Vice President Yemi Osinbajo urged Nigerians to
continue to pray for the administration, stressing that although these
were trying times, God would surely bring the country to the Promise
Land.
Tinubu, in a Democracy Day message yesterday, explained that the
current economic diversification drive of the President Muhammadu Buhari
administration presents a potent pedestal for the revival of the
nation’s economy on a sustainable basis, stressing that the strategy
would be more recession- resistant because “the economy will rest on
multiple revenue sources instead of a single source that is dependent on
foreign consumer preferences over which we have little control”.
He stressed the need for Nigeria to sustain its democracy through
sustained efforts at good governance, devoid of ills and impunity of the
past.
According to Osionbajo, the nation would fulfil its promise of being a land flowing with milk and honey for all her people.
Speaking at a service to mark the first anniversary of the Buhari
administration in Abuja, the Vice President noted God has been faithful
to the nation, stressing that many countries may not have stood the
several pressures and challenges that had continued to “confront us as a
people.”
He observed that the glory of a restored Nigeria is in “our acts of
sacrifices and prayers”, adding that the “Lord who has brought us this
far, will never take us back.”
