Jonathan's top aide detained over 'Chibok girls' $40m scam'

Abuja – Former president Goodluck Jonathan’s top aid has reportedly been making “shocking” revelations to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) ever since his arrest last week.

According to Sahara Reporters, sources within EFCC said Hassan Tukur was arrested and detained over allegations that he diverted the sum of $40 million meant for the "possible" release of 219 Chibok girls taken hostage by Boko Haram militants in 2014.
Tukur reportedly said that he diverted the funds with the approval of Jonathan.
Tukur allegedly claimed that he shared the bulk of the funds, which were meant to facilitate the releases of the girls, with his boss, Jonathan.

According to Premium Times, Tukur was one of the most powerful people in Jonathan's administration.
