A footballer who hugged a female fan is summoned by the Iran Football Federation.

Ramin Rezaeian, a professional player for Esteghlal and the national team, has been called in by Iran's football ethics committee after he hugged a female fan prior to a domestic league game.

On Friday, December 27, the local news outlet Tasnim announced that Ramin Rezaeian had been summoned by the Football Federation of Iran's ethics committee.

The event happened in Yazd province on Thursday, December 26, prior to Esteghlal's game versus Chadormalu. The football federation has not yet responded to inquiries about the situation. Rezaeian, 34, has played club football in Belgium and Qatar and has made more than 60 appearances for Iran internationally.

Ahead of Trump's reelection, American universities caution foreign students about potential visa problems. "Come back before he takes office."

The newly US President-elect, Donald Trump prepares to re-enter the White House, universities across the USA are warning international students including Nigerians to be aware that executive orders on immigration could affect their status in the US.

“During the first four years of the Trump administration, a travel ban was imposed that impacted multiple countries, and resulted in many/some international students encountering difficulties re-entering the US to resume classes,” the University of California-Berkeley recently posted on its International website.

“Whether such policies will be implemented again and/or blocked by the courts or via other means is unclear. Out of an abundance of caution, we are recommending a return to the United States prior to January 20.”

Cornell University's Office of Global Learning issued a similar warning to students of a travel ban that “is likely to go into effect soon after inauguration”.

“The ban is likely to include citizens of the countries targeted in the first Trump administration: Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Myanmar, Sudan, Tanzania, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Syria, Venezuela, Yemen and Somalia,” a statement from the office said, adding that students, faculty and staff from these countries should be back in the US before the term begins on January 21.

Afe Babalola's appeal to bar Dele Farotimi is denied by LPDC.

Ola Faro, a lawyer with Emmanuel Chambers, filed a petition alleging that lawyer and author Tomilola Farotimi, also known as Dele Farotimi, had made defamatory remarks about the Supreme Court and the legal profession in his book Nigeria and Criminal Justice System. 

The request to revoke Farotimi's law practicing license was denied by the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) due to allegations of professional misconduct and criminal defamation.

"The publication is an intellectual property and not a conduct or action committed while practicing as a Legal Practitioner. All aggrieved parties who find the publication 'defamatory' should ventilate their grievances through the regular courts," said Justice Isaq Usman Bello, the LPDC Chairman, explaining the committee's decision to rule that it lacked jurisdiction over the matter after concluding that the alleged offences occurred in Farotimi's capacity as an author rather than in his capacity as a lawyer.

JAMB releases 3,921 exceptional results from the 2024 UTME and announces a supplementary UTME Exam.

A supplementary UTME for the following candidates has been scheduled for Saturday, June 22, 2024, according to JAMB: 20,550 candidates whose results are currently being investigated; 2,702 candidates whose fingers could not be verified; and CAILS-KWASU candidates who were unable to register for Direct Entry. 

This was disclosed in a statement endorsed by Fabian Benjamin, Head of Media at JAMB.
3,921 unreleased 2024 UTME results that had been cleared have finally been made public, according to the statement.
